John Aliff, of Charleston, passed away Nov. 11, 2014 at Chillicothe Veterans Hospital, Hopewell House after a long illness.

He was born in Charleston on April 9, 1945, and graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1963. Soon after he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam era. He was a member of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late Romeo J. Aliff Sr. and Eunice Utterback Aliff. Also preceding him in death were his brother, William Aliff, and sisters, Annette Peters and Cheryl Kessell.

Survivors include his sister, Jeanette Rucker and husband, Donnie, and brothers, Richard Aliff and Gary Aliff and wife, Julie, all of Charleston. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with Pastor Benny Bess officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Gardens of Memories with military graveside rites provided by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin.
Escort and flag line will be provided by Patriot Guard Riders of West Virginia.
