James Dewitt "J.D." Howell, 71, of Kingman, died Monday, January 24, 2000 at his residence. He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Howell, in October 1999, and a brother, Guy Howell. Mr. Howell was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Ford Motor Company and a lifelong member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Kingman. Survivors include his parents, Herbert and Estelle Murdock Howell, both of Bakersville; his wife, Margaret Boone Howell of the home; son, Jeff Howell of Kingman; a granddaughter, Rhiannon Howell of Kingman; sisters, Wilma Tinney and Liona Taylor, both of Bakersville; brothers, Ted and Kenneth Howell, both of Bakersville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday in Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. Revs. Wallace Wise and Steve Williams officiated. Burial was in the Rebels Creek Cemetery.
