Josephine was born on Nov. 30, 1923, in Springfield, Ill. In July of 1953, she moved to Alaska and has lived in both Kenai and Anchorage.
Josephine spent 15 years working at the Dimond/Mears School cafeteria as the "Milkshake Lady."
She also spent 35 years working at Bell's Nursery, a place that was more than a job and they became like second family.
The family stated that, "Josie was a long time Alaska resident, known and loved by many people and family. She loved to travel, to garden and take care of all her beautiful hanging baskets and flowers. She loved her most recent job at Bell's Nursery, where she was loved by many employees and customers.
She adored and loved spending time with her four grandkids and four great-grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Barksdale.
