Frederick "Fritz" William Alderman, age 69, of Waunakee, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 peacefully with his family by his side.
Fritz was born on May 25, 1945 in Monroe, WI. He was the second son of Isaac and Marion (Moritz) Alderman. Fritz grew up in New Glarus and graduated from New Glarus High School, Class of 1963. While in high school, he lettered in both basketball and baseball.
After high school, Fritz worked at Mazo Egg & Produce in Middleton before being drafted into the United States Army in 1965. He was a Vietnam veteran and was honorably discharged in 1967.
After his return from Vietnam, Fritz went on to work for the United States Postal Service as a mail handler until his retirement in 2002. In 1969, while working at the Main Post Office, he met his future wife, Jennifer Fidlin. The two were married on October 17, 1970 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Madison. They recently celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary by returning to their wedding reception site, The New Glarus Hotel.
Fritz is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer; and daughters Michelle (Richard) Ammon and their daughter Abby of Dodgeville, WI; Jamie (Tony) Sobacki and their son Will of Sun Prairie. He is further survived by his brothers Butch (Beau) of New Glarus and Gene of Sun Prairie and sister Joanne of Wisconsin Dells. Fritz was preceded in death by his parents and brother Stubby.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Fritz will be at 2 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South Street, Waunakee with Monsignor James Gunn presiding. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee with a prayer service beginning at 3:30 PM. Visitation will continue from 1-1:45 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with mass to follow. A private burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Kiel, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the family.
