World War I veteran. Enlisted on Mar 28, 1916, in Fort Coulonge with the 224th Canadian Forestry Battalion, Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force. Regimental # 297425. Edgar departed from Halifax on April 25, 1916, arriving in England on May 5, 1916. After serving for over two years in hard labour, he returned to Canada on the SS Olympic from England, arriving in Halifax on Mar 21, 1918. He was discharged on Sep 30, 1918, in Montreal, medically unfit for service, disease contracted while on active duty in Virginia Water, England. Edgar left Canada in good health; returning with V.D.H. (valvular disease of the heart). The military records do not provide any detailed explanation; however, based on information from his youngest son, he had been a victim of mustard gas.

Edgar and Clarissa married on March 16, 1916, shortly before he enlisted. He was a fishing and hunting guide for the Americans. In 1938, the family bought the farm on the Black River Road, and Edgar took over as caretaker and guide at Mousseau Lake. Edgar died February 5, 1963 in the Veterans hospital in Ottawa.
