Thomas married Matilda "Tillie" Baldwin, the daughter of Levi and Katherine Compton Baldwin, on 22 August 1912 in Lucas County, and they had Dorothy (1910-1910), Benjamin (1914-1987), George Edward (1918-1918), Thomas (1920), and Frederick Hansen (1923-1924). In 1910, Thomas was also a property manager for a theater and Tillie was a waitress. Tom died from uremia and cancer of the prostate at the age of 60 years 5 months and 6 days.

Tom's marriage record gives his mother's maiden name as McKenzie but his birth record shows it to be Thompson.
