WATERTOWN, N.Y. — Grace R. Ahlheim, 87, of 440 Harris Dr., passed Nov. 9, 2014.

Born July 9, 1927, in Clayton, the daughter of Charles J. and Mary Moineau Reff, she attended St. Mary's School, Clayton, and graduated from Our Lady of Angels Academy, St. Laurent, Montreal.

She married John G. Ahlheim, the former owner of Ahlheim Bros. Wholesale Food Specialties, on July 12, 1956.

Grace worked for various businesses as a bookkeeper and stenographer after graduating. From 1949 to 1956, she worked for Drs. Atkinson, Summa and Kant, and from 1967 to 1989 for the Watertown City School District for the assistant auperintendent: personnel and transportation departments.

Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Amy and Scott McNiven, Fairport, and Julie and Scott Bishop, Westford, Mass.; four granddaughters, Megan and Kerri McNiven, and Jessica and Natalie Bishop; a sister, Sister Faith Reff, C.S.C, Nepean, Ontario; a brother, Charles E. Reff, Watertown; a sister-in-law, Pat Reff, Kentucky; a brother-in-law, Norman R. (Cindy) Ahlheim, Chaumony; and many beloved nieces and nephews, and their families.

In addition to her husband, Grace was predeceased by her sisters Virginia Comins and Sister Rita Reff C.S.C, brothers, John M. Reff and Robert K. Reff, sisters-in-law, Lorraine Reff and Pat Reff, and a brother-in-law, Raymond W. Comins.

Throughout her life, Grace enjoyed being a member of many clubs and participating in numerous activities: Brownie Scout Leader, Sacred Heart Bowling League, Twig-Auxiliary of Samaritan Medical Center, Cosmopolitan Dance Club, Crescent Yacht Club, Rustic Golf Club, Jefferson Co. Historical Society, N.N.Y. Duplicate Bridge Club, First Presbyterian Women, antiquing, refinishing furniture, traveling, golfing, gardening, skiing, ice skating, Elderhostel programs and years of social bridge with her many wonderful friends. These all brought Grace many years of happiness.

Honoring Grace's wishes, there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held privately by the family.
