Francis James "Frank" Golden was the third child of Michael John Golden (1862-1928) and his second wife, Rose Ann Nugent Golden (1872-1952).
On the US 1920 Census, he reported that he was an optician. On the 1925 New York State Census, he said he was a "trucking man," as was his younger brother, Arthur.
On 11 Aug 1926, Frank married Theresa "Trixie" Cankai in Manhattan. They had a daughter, Maureen Golden Torrey (1930-2014).
On the US 1930 Census, he stated that he was a patrolman.
On the US 1940 Census, he was living with his wife and daughter at 2545 41st Street in Astoria, Queens, an address he had until his death in 1947. He was a patrolman.
Frank was a New York City policeman killed in the line of duty. From his Officer Down Memorial:
"Patrolman Golden was accidentally shot and
killed by his partner while struggling with
a burglary suspect. The officers had responded
to a burglary alarm at a diner on Northern
Boulevard in Queens. When the officers
arrived, they encountered a suspect. The
suspect began to struggle with Patrolman Golden.
Notes: Patrolman Golden's partner fired at the
suspect, but struck Patrolman Golden. He was
transported to St. John's Hospital where he
succumbed to his wound. The suspect was
arrested in a short time later. Patrolman
Golden was assigned to the Hunters Point
Station (modern day 108th Precinct). He was
survived by his wife."
He was also survived by his daughter.
Note: The suspect was attempting to steal from a vending machine.
