NEWS OF DEATH BROKEN BY SPECIAL MESSENGER
Sad Tidings Taken to Wife and Daughter of W. H. Haberle at Atlantic City.

Arrangements for the funeral of William H. Haberle, the well-known brewer, who was found dead in bed at his home early yesterday morning, were delayed last night, owing to the fact that no word had been received from his wife and daughter, Leonora, who have been spending a vacation at Atlantic City. Burns Lyman Smith, Mr. Haberle’s son-in-law, dispatched a special messenger from New York last night to Atlantic City to break the news of Mr. Haberle’s death to them.

Mr. Haberle left the home of his daughter, Mrs. Smith, Thursday night after having taken dinner with them and was then apparently in the best of health and spirits. He went directly home, and when James Kearney, one of his employees, made his customary call yesterday morning to awaken the brewer, he received no response to his rings. He then notified several relatives, and, after the door had been forced, Mr. Haberle was found dead in bed.

Coroner George R. Kinne made an investigation yesterday after which he declared Mr. Haberle’s death was caused by diabetes and heart trouble, from which he had been suffering for some time. Mr. Haberle was vice-president and secretary of the Haberle-Crystal Spring Brewing Company.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Burns Lyman Smith and Miss Leonora Haberle; one brother, Frank B. Haberle, and three sisters, Mrs. Olive Biehler, Mrs. Charles Schwartz and Mrs. W. T. Woese, all of this city.

Mr. Haberle was 53 years old and was born in this city, his father being Benedict Haberle, the organizer of the Haberle brewing interests. He was a life resident of this city and was prominent among his business associates because of his ability and energy. In 1881 he was married to Miss Marie Muller. Mr. Haberle was a member of Central City Lodge, F. and A. M., and was also a Scottish Rites Mason.
