Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Oak Grove for Philip Livingston Spyres, minister in Washington county for 25 years, who died Saturday morning at his home at Elm Springs.
Rev. O. L. Lierly of Fayetteville officiated and burial was in Elm Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Spyres was born in Lincoln county, Mo, Oct. 19, 1867. He was united in marriage to Miss Rushie May Parks on September 7, 1891. Seven children survive; Will, Monroe and Tillman of the home. Oscar of Oak Grove community, Dock of Blythe, Calif., Mrs. Sadie Smith and Mrs. Oma Cook of Springdale, Also three brothers and one sister and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Spyres joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Bethlehem near West Fork at the age of 20 and in this faith he was active as superintendent of the Sunday School and a minister until ill health caused his retirement.
