The parents of Elizabeth Smith are unknown at this time. Elizabeth Smith married John Day on 10 or 21 of March 1809 in Harrison Township, Gallia Co., Ohio.

Elizabeth and her living children were found in the will of her husband, John Day. The known children listed in the will are:
- Robert Hamilton (m. Jane Amanda Hay), (1810-!890)
- George Washington
- Mary Polly
- John "Jack"
- Maria Ann (m. John Robinson), (1823-1870)
- James Morgan (m. Minerva Barker), (1829- 1880)
- Elizabeth Jean

Their son, Thomas J. (1828-1840) is not included in the will because he died before his father. His stone, in this same cemetery, lists him as one of their children.

"Day, Elizabeth"
Died, in Ohio township, May 10th, 1875, Mrs. Elizabeth Day, wife of Mr. John Day, aged eighty-three years. She has been a consistent and faithful member of the Baptist Church for thirty-six years. She was a good citizen and commanded universal respect."

Elizabeth Smith Day is placed in Providence Cemetery based upon the fact that her husband and four of her children are buried here. Her burial location remains unconfirmed. She is possibly in an unmarked grave next to her husband, John Day.
