BARTON, Sidney Courtenay World War II Veteran Peacefully in Ottawa on Thursday, August 17th, 2006. Sidney Barton in his 98th year, beloved husband of the late Rose Finlay, loving father of Barbara (Earl Roberts) of Ottawa and Robert (Maureen) of Langley, BC. Devoted grandfather to David (Jocelyn Gouthro), Bryan (Heidi Sabourin), Laurel (Christopher Leslie), Tara, Jennifer and Kristina (Kory Thompson), great-grandfather to Morgan, Sarah, Jerrod, Holly, Karson, Jayna and Kayden. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Charles and John and sisters Winnifred Dube and Ruth Finn. Survived by sisters-in-law Elizabeth and Vera. Life member of the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment), Montreal Branch; life member of the Lodge of Two Mountains No. 122 A.F. & A.M. G.R.Q.; member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 632; and life member of the Gloucester Senior Adult Centre. A special thank you to the staff of Garry J. Armstrong Long-Term Care Home for their care and devotion. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway), Gloucester, Ontario on Monday, August 21, 2006 after 11:00 a.m. until the time of Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Interment St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Cemetery.
