Roger E Vander Sande

Roger E. Vander Sande, age 84, of River Woods Place, 950 South Rapids Road, Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at his residence.

Roger was born May 17, 1930 in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin.He was the son of the late Andrew and Genevieve Thede Vander Sande. Roger was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He served in the United States Army from December 3, 1953 until he was honorably discharge on October 15, 1955. During his time in the Army he served overseas during the Korean Conflict. After his tour of duty Roger returned to Manitowoc and became employed with the Grey Iron Foundry and later with Eck Industries from where he retired in 1990. Roger never missed a day of work in 40 years. On June 2, 1951 he married Marion E. Roedig at St. John's United Church of Christ in Manitowoc.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Marion; one brother: David Vander Sande, Iron River, MI; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Patricia Hicks, Pennsicola, FL; Janice and James Revelonski, Manitowoc, WI; one sister-in-law: Ruth Ann Vander Sande, Oshkosh, WI; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Andrew and Genevieve Vander Sande; one brother: Harold; one brother-in-law: Marvin Hicks.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Runge with burial to follow at Knollwood Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the funeral service at the funeral home, military rites will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto Oas Post 659. Following the military rites, a luncheon for relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
