Rev. Franklin Butler, 68, was the son of Billy Bishop and Sarah (Castle) Butler. He was the eighth pastor of Old South Church in Windsor, Vermont from January 18, 1843 to November 11, 1858. His first wife was Mary Coolidge, the only daughter of former Gov. Carlos Coolidge. They had one son, Carlos C. Butler. His second wife was Abbie McIndoe, widow of Lyman J. McIndoe.
