ALLEN, Catherine Jane
Passed away Tuesday, April 4 in Sacramento, California at the age of 77.

Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 30, 1928, she resided in Grand Rapids until her parents, Ora (Morton) and Clayton Allen moved to New York City in 1940.

She attended Virginia Intermont School for Women and Albion College graduating from Albion in the class of 1949.

After graduation Catherine returned to New York City where she worked for many years as a payroll supervisor at Chemical Construction Company.

Favorite and frequent destinations were Vermont at her father's apple orchards and Michigan. As a member of the Morton family of Muskegon, Michigan, she stayed in contact with her aunts, uncles and cousins, returning to Michigan for family gatherings.

She moved to Sacramento, California in 1995 to be near her sister, Alice. She enjoyed travel and making friends wherever she went. A lifelong member of the Methodist Church beginning with the First Methodist Church of Grand Rapids, she remained committed to her church.

Throughout Catherine's life her enjoyment and enthusiasm for meeting people was tremendous and well known by all those who had the opportunity to be acquainted with her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clayton T. Allen; mother, Ora Morton Allen; sister Sue Allen Paup of Grand Rapids, sister Alice Allen of Pleasant Valley, Iowa; brother Harold Allen of Los Angeles.

She is survived by her nieces and nephew,
Cynthia Paup Crane (Mrs. HD Peter) of Grand Haven, Michigan, Robert Paup of Greenwich, Connecticut,
Martha Paup Schmidt (Mrs. Widdicombe) of Ann Arbor, Michigan,
Catherine Paup Moore (Mrs. J. Alan) of Ada, Michigan, Susan Bohenmoyer (Mrs. Butch) of Onalaska, Wisconsin; Sarah Stoltz (Mrs. Greg Herrera) of Carmichael, California,
Stephanie Stoltz Arp (Mrs Steven) of Davenport, Iowa; fifteen greatnieces and nephews; and
four great-great nephews and niece.

A graveside service will be held Monday, April 10, at 1:00 pm at Oakwood Cemetery, Muskegon, Michigan.
