Russell Edward Roper, 73, died of heart failure Oct. 4, 2006, at Quitman County Hospital in Marks. He was born Aug. 6, 1933, in Quitman County and was an Air Force veteran. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Roper.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Edward Roper and James Harold Roper, both of Lambert; two daughters, Deborah Carol Gray of Sardis and Joann Roper of Lambert; two brothers, Harold Roper Jr. of Marks and Jessie Roper of Centreville, Ill.; five sisters, Alice Shields, Kat Yarbrough and Frances Jordan, all of Crowder, Doris Blair of Batesville and Virginia Boyette of Pope; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight, Oct. 6 at Community Independent Baptist Church in Lambert. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at the church with Raymond Roberson officiating. Interment will follow at Lambert Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks.
