The Rev. George Douglas Alley, D.D., married Joanne Ellis, 1950, in Dundee, Illinois.

His survivors include his wife Joanne; his daughter Rebecca (husband Karl) Fabry; and his grandchild ren, Steve, Kate, Tiffany, and Mark.

Dr. Alleywas a graduate of Berea College, Kentucky, and Chicago Theological Seminary, also studying at the Federated Theological Faculty of University of Chicago. Elon College (now University) conferred upon him the honorary degree Doctor of Divinity on May 27, 1957.

He was ordained in the Congregational Christian Church in 1946.

Dr. Alley was the author of “Fellowship of Prayer: Lenten Season, 1979", published by Christian Board of Publication.

He served as pastor in El Paso, Texas, 1946-1948, pastor of First Congregational Church, Dundee, Illinois, 1948/9-1954; pastor of Suffolk Christian Church, Suffolk, Virginia, February 1, 1954 to 1962.

His final pastorate was Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, retiring from the active ministry in 1987. He was named Pastor Emeritus of that church in the same year he retired.

Dr. and Mrs. Alley made their retirement home in Suring, WI.
