Born Dec. 26, 1914, in Peoria to James and Elizabeth Herring Aylward, he married Dorothy Hanauer on April 11, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo.
She survives along with two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Patricia) Wehrle of Groveland and Mrs. James (Sally Jo) Creamer of Hong Kong, China; one brother, Robert of Peoria; and four sisters, Margaret Ruckle of Peoria, Mrs. Everett (Kathryn) Auten of Bartonville, Mrs. Delmer (Lucille) Lauterbach of Bartonville and Mrs. Charles (Betty) Hinners of Bellevue. Two brothers preceded him in death.
He worked as a yeast operator at Hiram Walker & Sons for 42 years, retiring in 1977.
Private graveside services will be at Springdale Cemetery.
