John Gabbard, age 77, of Imlay City, passed away on November 21, 2014, at McLaren Lapeer Region. John Wessley Gabbard, the son of Charles and Grace Gabbard, was born on October 24, 1937, in Beattyville, Kentucky. He grew up in Beattyville and then moved to Imlay City, Michigan in 1957.

John was united in marriage with Sarah Sokolik on November 22, 1958, in Rochester, Michigan.

John received his A.S.E certification and worked for Brisk Foundry from the time he was 22 until the late 1970s as a mold maker. He worked for Merollies Cadillac, Oldsmobile, and GMC for more than 10 years. He also worked as a mechanic in his own home.

He was a huge NASCAR fan.

John is survived by:

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2014, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, where the family will be available for visiting 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Burial will follow at Burnside Township Cemetery in Brown City.
