Opie Wykle was a son of Alexander Caperton Wykle and Virginia Belle Wykle.

He was a coal miner in Raleigh County, at the time of his death he was living in Pickshin.

He had married Bertha Hess,in 1927. She and Opie had went to New York City, in 1929 and she contracted tuberculosis. At the time of his death, he was not married.

As they had only been married a brief time, no known children were born in the marriage.

A search, conducted on 7-1-2015 at the Raleigh County Public Library in the book titled "Raleigh County Obituaries for selected years"; also compiled by Pauline Haga, did not include a reference to Opie E. Wykle, Bertha Hess Wykle, burials, or Ethel May Wykle Coffey transported to Summers County and burial.

7-28-2015:
Raleigh County Cemetery Book by Pauline Haga doesn't include why the name change from Abney Cemetery to Bower Cemetery. Wykle's who were buried in the cemetery may be between Baby Hart 1957 and Arnold Thompson 1902; as there are 4 native stones side by side.
