Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 6525 Old Monroe Road, Indian Trail. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mr. Walden was born August 18, 1932, in Union County, and was the son of the late James David and Alice Hinson Walden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; son James Ried; granddaughter, Kayla; brothers, Vance, Raymond, June, Jack, Jimmy and E. W.; and by his sister, Faye. He was a retired truck driver, working for several companies over the past 50 years. Mr. Walden also served in the US Army.
He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Randolph and husband, Patrick; sons, Mike Walden and wife, Tracy, Don Walden and wife, Elizabeth and Tim Walden and wife, Tammy; grandchildren, Jessica, Madison, Grayson, Austin, Nick, Dylan, Cody, Jonathan, Steven, Matthew and Jacob; and great-grandchildren, Kenley, Easton, Sadie, Addyson, Bexlei, Kara, and Kayl.
The family would like to express their thanks to Hospice of Union County for their compassionate care provided to him in his final days as well as a special thanks to his caregiver, Melissa Grindstaff.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
