Prudence Rayl was born in Beaver county, Pennsylvania on Jan 11, 1822.
She moved with her parents to Wayne county, Ohio, and later moved to Hancock county, Ohio, where she was married to Noah Dearth on October 15, 1840.
To this union was born eleven children, six of whom preceded her to the spirit world.
She was left a widow in 1864, having given her husband and eldest son to our country's defense.
She departed this life on Feb 17, 1908, aged 86 years, 1 months and 6 days.
She leaves to mourn her loss, the brother, Daniel Rayl, one sister, Mrs Susan Candler; three sons, John V, Thomas E and Joseph; two daughters, Mrs Nancy Jane Carnahan and Mrs Matilda Peterson; thirty-five grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren.
She united with the ME church in early life, and ever after it afforded her the greatest pleasure to assist those in need. After spending 52 years in this community she has won the high esteem and affection of the entire community and all lovingly called her grandma. She will be sorely missed by the family and community. Her life has been one of usefulness and toil. Blessed is her memory.
