George Baker Roberts, age 76, of Montgomery, Texas passed away unexpectedly in a Lake Travis house fire on Thursday, April 6, 2006. George was born September 5, 1929, in Austin, Texas, the son of Grady Mack and Myra Estelle Baker Roberts.

He was preceded in death by his loving and beloved wife of 47 years, Anna Maria Lassberg Roberts in July 1999.

He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Austin, Texas in 1947, where he was a member of the high school football team, and later attended Texas A&M University on a football scholarship. He received a B. S. Degree in Petroleum Engineering from TAMU in 1952. Subsequent to college graduation in 1952, he served two years in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged as a 1st Lt. In 1952 he joined Standard Oil Co. of Texas as a petroleum engineer. After several tenures with independent oil and gas companies, he formed George B. Roberts Consultants, Inc. in Houston, Texas in 1975. He served the oil and gas drilling and production industry for some 35 years as a consultant. He was a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and was a registered Professional Engineer in Texas and Oklahoma. He was also a Master Mason and member of Midland Texas Masonic Lodge No. 623 A.F & A.M. George and Anna were great supporters of Texas A & M University and were joint donors to engineering and athletics at TAMU.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Angela and Mark Stephenson of Houston Texas, Suzanne and Michael Fehlis of Lockhart, Texas, Lynn and Scott Riedel of Duluth, Georgia and Kristi and Christopher Millard of Avondale, Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren, Neal and his wife Jenny, Nathan, Stephanie and Stacey Stephenson of Houston, Texas, Michael Jr. and George Cody Fehlis of Lockhart, Texas, Andrew, Allyson, and Austin Riedel of Duluth, Georgia and James Christopher and Anna Kristi Millard of Avondale, Pennsylvania; great granddaughters Emma Grace and Ellie Kate Stephenson of Houston, Texas; brother G. George was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.. He was deeply loyal and inspired family unity. His genuine and caring nature was manifested in the great sense of humor, laughter and concern for others.
