Juanita Marthene Milholland King went to be with her Lord on November 22, 2014.

She was born March 4, 1924 to Edgar and Drucie McDowell Milholland in Wenatchee, Washington.

Juanita had three brothers-Harry, Roy and Eddie and one sister-Jean. She had two step sisters – Corita and Bonita and one stepbrother – Murry. During her younger years she lived in the Northwest. Finally in the late 30’s the family returned to the home state of Kansas. They moved to Baxter Springs, Kansas. There she met husband to be Melvin Eugene King at Baxter Springs High School.

They were married on Christmas Eve on December 24, 1943. He was stationed in Manhattan, Kansas with the Army. She returned home and later joined him when he was stationed in Texas. He was then deployed to France during World War II.

Upon his returned to the US they resided in Rosiclaire, Illinois. From there they moved to Rolla, Mssouri where he attended the School of Mines. After graduation they lived in Monaca, Pennsylvania, then Lincroft, New Jersey, then Leawood, Kansas and finally to Beaumont, Texas in 1971.

Together they had five children. Two daughters – Nita Diane Hargett and Mary Susan Baker and three sons – James Melvin King, John William King and Robert Warren King.

Juanita was very active in her church and was continually researching and reading theological literature. She successfully earned a Certification in religion from Fletcher Emanual Baptist Church. This involved a very intensive two years of studies of the Bible.

Juanita and Melvin loved to travel and camped throughout the United States. They enjoyed being with their family and always kept in touch with their cousins and brothers and sisters. They adored their 18 grandchildren. She was thrilled to have 20 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Melvin. Her parents, brothers and sisters. Also four grandchildren- Leslie Hargett, Jeffrey Hargett and Joshua King and Robby King. They have welcomed her with loving arms.

She leaves behind her family of daughter Nita Diane Hargett, daughter and son-in-law, Mary Susan and Leslie Baker, sons and daughter–in-laws James M and Kathryn King, John W and Deborah King, and son - Robert Warren King.

Grandchildren – Jon Hargett, Janet Thompson and Joel Hargett, Kimberly McDonald, Karrie McConnell and Kraig Baker, James M King Jr., Sharon Sheridan, David King, Melissa Aston and Thomas King, Katelyn Fertitta and Adam King and Clayton King and Spencer King.

Juanita was a giving and loving person. Our mother, grandmother and great grandmother will be always in our hearts.

From her son Bob:
I was privileged to have had the most wonderful Mother. She was a loving spirit with a great commitment to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She believed no matter how dark the day there was a positive action to make it brighter. Her body has failed but her spirit lives on. Watching the children, the grandchildren and great grandchildren you see her in their eyes, movement and speech. As she has given me unconditional love that will stay within in my soul forever. I in turn give her the same love. She is now a beloved saint-love you forever Mom.
