Only child from the marriage of Jessie Garrett Cornelison (1826 – 1862) and Delaney Adeline Holdaway (b 1824 in Tennessee). Jessie Garrett Cornelison and Delaney Adeline Holdaway were married on 9 Mar 1847 and divorced in June, 1852. Delaney Adelaine Holdaway Cornelison then married William A Crow on 31 Jul 1853 in Greene Co., Mo. They had two daughters.
Through Jessie Garrett Cornelison's union with Suzanna Bookout, William "Garrett" Cornelison gained six half-siblings. At least two of William's half-siblings were born before his Jessie's divorce from Wiliam's mother.
Jessie Garrett Cornelison was killed on his porch by Confederate soliers during Civil War 16 Dec 1862 in Christian Co., Missouri.

William Garrett Cornelison died suddenly of unknown cause at the age of 66 years, 6 months, and 11 days. No doctor in attendance. He married Julia Manerva Barnett on 13 Aug 1870 in Webster County, Missouri. He was a farmer. Undertaker and informant listed on death certificate was William J. Cornelison of Diggins, Mo.
