The funeral for Joseph C. "Joe" Dvorak, 94, of North Bend will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend.

He died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

He was born March 17, 1913, in Morse Bluff to Albert and Emma (Bauer) Dvorak. He lived east of North Bend from 1919 until 1936, when he moved to North Bend. He married Marion A. Groff on March 10, 1936, in Council Bluffs, Iowa; she died Nov. 27, 1974. In 1950, he moved to a farm east of North Bend. He worked for Farmers Union Co-op in North Bend from 1937-39, then for Union Pacific Railroad from 1939 to 1943. He did custom feed grinding until 1950, then started farming until 1978.

He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend. He also served on the District 73 school board for several years.

Survivors include: three sons, James (and wife, Darlene) Dvorak of North Bend, Kenneth Dvorak of Sargent and Keith (and wife, Vicki) Dvorak of Chetek, Wis.; a daughter, Susan (Mrs. Thomas) Groeteke of Primrose; a brother, Richard (and wife, Lois) Dvorak of Stuart; two sisters, Evelyn Houska of Wahoo and Mary Ann (Mrs. Duane) Knuth of Boone N.C.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by a son, a granddaughter, two sisters, a brother and a daughter-in-law.

The Rev. Donald Cleary will officiate Tuesday's service. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. vigil service, at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in North Bend.

Memorials may be made to the North Bend Senior Center.
