1. Clifford, b Irasburg, Vt. 15 Nov. 1878. He left home when young to go to work at age 14. He m. 1st, Blanche Sophia Lathrop (1869-1960). He m. 2nd, Gertrude Spencer Aiken (1884-1924). Cliff d. in Claremont, NH 24 Oct. 1874.
2. George, b. Windsor, 1885
3. Ernest, b. Windsor, 1888. From 1931-2, he was the Road Commissioner for Weathersfield. He later worked for the Vt. State Highway Dept. and was responsible for the construction of Route 106 from North Springfield to Hammondsville.
4. Edith, b. 1889. Sent to the Kurn Hattin Home after her mother died in 1900.
5. Arthur, b. April 1892. Sent to the Kurn Hattin Home after her mother died in 1900.
6. Margaret, "Maggie," b. 4 Oct. 1894. She m. (at the age of 15) July 1909, Robert Thomas from West Windsor. He was 8 years her senior. She lived on the Thomas farm with Robert's parents whom she grew to love and her little sister Mammie came to live with them. The old Thomas Farm in Sheddsville is owned now by Harriet Hilts and was featured on the Oct. 1984 cover of L. L. Bean catalogue. Robert Thomas d. 1959. Margaret m. 2nd, (as his 2nd wife) Walter McFadden. He d. 1966. Margaret was sent to the Kurn Hattin Home after her mother died in 1900. In 1904 at age 10 she came home from the Kurn Hattin Home and went out to work as a hired girl She worked for both the Leon Gregg family and the George Hackett family on the farms up on Goulden Ridge road. Her best friends at the time were Thelma and Helena Putnam of the Center. She attended district school when she was 5 yrs. old up the road at District #5 School (Litchfield School) named for the family of Litchfield that lived on Gird Lot Road just north of the town farm. The Litchfield property burned in the early 1930s when owned by George Harris. Officially the school was called "the Hill School" in town records, located at junction of Goulden Ridge Road and Gird Lot Road, SW corner. This school closed in 1905 after only four students were enrolled. (Children: (1) David Thomas, b. (2) Eleanor Thomas, b. (3) Loren Thomas, b. (4) Edmund Thomas, b. (5) Robert Thomas Jr., b.--. He m. Beverly Hinkley.
7. Mammie, b. 1896. After her mother died she was sent to Burlington to live with an Aunt.
8. Frederick Dewey "Freddie," b. Weathersfield 27 April 1897. He was just two years old when his mother died, and was sent to a convent in Burlington. He m. in Lebanon, NH, 17 Nov. 1924, Dorothy Murphy. He served during World War I in Company "E" 103rd Infantry, 26th Division. He enlisted 30 June 1917, and was discharged 28 April 1919. He d. in Beacon Falls, Conn. 18 Sept. 1950.

Louis m. 2nd in windsor, 21 July 1903, Nancy J. Lane, a woman from the South, North Carolina, a widow, with a little boy about the same age as Freddie. This marriage did not work out and a year later, she left Weathersfield.
Louis m. 3rd Sept. 1909 Henrietta "Hattie' Jarvis LaFlamme (b. Canada 23 June 1859, dau. of Eusebe "Zeb" & Harriet (Tatro) Jarvis, widow of Nelson LaFlame who died in 1907, and mother of 7 children)
Hattie d. in Weathersfield 8 June 1940 (age 80) Louis Aiken d. at the Brattleboro Retreat, 8 March 1942 (age 89).

(from Edith Hunter's Weathersfield weekly, Friday 29 March 1985): John Aiken, the father, came to Vermont by way of Canada, from Scotland. He settled on the border in Enosburg Falls. He was a very religious man and a Baptist Minister. Louis was also very religious in the Baptist faith. Julia was a Catholic. Her family moved down to the Windsor area from northern Vermont and it was at their suggestion that Louis, Julia, and baby Clifford moved to Windsor also. they settled in Windsor on the Weston farm, the main house of which is now Cedar Manor on Route 5. After Louis married Julia, they settled in Irasburg where their 1st child, Clifford was born, and then moved to Windsor, Vt. On 23 March 1892, they purchased the old Edwin Jackman Farm and 40 acres on the Gird Lot Road in Weathersfield. On the Butterfield map the property was marked as #4, and includes the names of Aaron Harrington, John Leland, Seymour Kimball, and E. S. Jackman, associated with it. On the map of 1855 the property was owned by S. Kimball and on 1869 map, by E. Jackman. The cape-cod styled house had an ell. The barns were across the road. North of it was the old town Farm which burned about 1918-1920. the Mirandon house stood later where that town farm once stood. After Julia's death the family was split up. In 1902 Louis sold the Gird Lot Road farm at auction to Fred Nelson. The barns burned in the early 1920s, and the house burned during the winter of 1924/5. On 18 Aug. 1903, Louis bought the property at the top of what is now called Aiken Hill, from Thomas and Minnie Willett for $600. This home in the Marsh District was sold to Edson Chamberlain in 1830. He sold it to Philip Hardy in 1833. in 1838, Levi Kidder bought it. In 1839 he sold it to Levi Field. In June 1856, Thomas and Minnie Willett bought the farm from John R. Field. The house that stands there now was built by Levi Field in 1839. it burned in 1943 when it was owned by Lewis & Mildred Marshall and Russell and Louise Marshall.
