Rita (Staab) Billinger, 93, Hays, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Hays Good Samaritan Center

She was born March 10, 1921, in Las Vegas, N.M., to Albert J. and Ida (Wiesner) Staab.

She married Leo R. Billinger on Aug. 27, 1940, in Catherine. He died Nov. 27, 2002.

She grew up in Catharine and made her home in Victoria, where she was a substitute cook in the school system. She enjoyed music, playing cards and spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church and Christian Mothers and Daughters of Isabella, all of Victoria.

Survivors include four sons, Vernon Billinger and wife, Dorothy, Macomb, Mich., Earl Billinger, Rich Billinger and wife, Jeani, and Bill Billinger and wife, Cindy, all of Hays; two daughters, Marlene Brown and husband, Ken, Attica, Mich., and Mary Kay Pfeifauf and husband, George, Capac, Mich.; five brothers, Robert Staab and wife, Alice, Hays, Paul Staab, Frank Staab and wife, Irma, both of Denver, Norman Staab and wife, Barbara, Tucson, Ariz., and Joseph Staab, Dear Trail, Colo.; three sisters-in-law, Rosie Suppes, Hays, Dorothy Billinger, Kansas City, Kan., and Catherine Staab, Denver; 24 grandchildren; 49
great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Wayne Billinger; three brothers, Albert, Richard and Fred Staab; a sister, Eileen Bollig; and a great-grandson, Aaron Koehn.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, all at Cline's Mortuary, Hays. A Daughters of Isabella/Christian Mothers rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, followed by vigil services at 7 p.m., all at the mortuary.
