Mrs. Emily J. (Markey) Kussmaul, 91, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Kussmaul, who died in 1996. Born in East Walpole, Aug. 18, 1916, a daughter of the late James and Doris Markey, she lived in Franklin most of her life. She was raised and educated in Walpole, and until her retirement many years ago, worked as a secretary at Wrentham District Court for more than 25 years. An avid golfer, Mrs. Kussmaul was a member of the Franklin Country Club, where she shot a hole in one in 1980. She held the course record in the 1950s. She also enjoyed music and was an accomplished piano player and enjoyed travel, reading and spending time with the family. She is survived by her son, William E. Kussmaul and his wife, Maryann, of Franklin; a daughter, Linda Baccei and her husband, Thomas, of West Fairlee, Vt.; two sisters, Irene Levangie of East Walpole and Pauline Bowers of Naples, Fla. Also surviving are three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Friday at 10 a.m, in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St, www.franklinfuneral.com. Interment will follow in the family lot in Maple Grove Cemetery in Walpole. Calling hours are Thursday, from 2 to 5 p.m.
