Elmer G. Narten, age 76, a resident of 1418 S. 15th St., Manitowoc, entered into eternal rest on June 30, 2004, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at 11 a.m. Deacon Al Boeldt will officiate. Cremation will have taken place. Elmer was born April 14, 1928, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, to the late Louis and Elizabeth Eggers Narten. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He married Patricia Novak on Jan. 20, 1951, in Dubuque, Iowa. He owned and operated Narten's Standard Service for 23 years. He then was employed by various trucking companies in the Manitowoc area until retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Manitowoc Yacht Club. He loved football, and served on the Manitowoc Chief's board of directors from 1957 to 1968. He also was inducted into the Manitowoc County Chief's Football Hall of Fame in 1995. Survivors include his wife: Patricia; three children: Steven (Sandra) Narten, Rick (Debra) Narten, Michelle (John) Brixius, all of Manitowoc; also five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kurt Narten. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, Wednesday, July 7, 2004, from 10 until the time of memorial services at 11 a.m.
