James B. Nemec, age 89, of 426 N. Duluth Ave., Sturgeon Bay, died Wednesday morning, April 6, 2005, at his residence. He was born Oct. 24, 1915, in Two Rivers, son of the late Vaclov and Anna Parka Nemec. On Dec. 26, 1939, he married the former Arlene Novak in Dubuque, Iowa. She preceded him in death Oct. 15, 1999. Jim was employed with the Manitowoc Company from 1930 to 1970 and then continued his employment at Bay Shipbuilding, Sturgeon Bay, as a welding supervisor until his retirement in 1984. Survivors include a daughter: Kathy Balzen, Sturgeon Bay; five grandchildren: two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Pat Narten, Manitowoc; and Josie Novak, Green Bay. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by a son: James G. Nemec; and three sisters; Alyce, Lucy and Lilla; and two brothers-in-law: Robert Novak and Elmer Narten. The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005, until the time of service at 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Robert Drobka with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
