Alfonse Anthony Porpora

Alfonse Anthony Porpora, age 80, of the Parlin section of Sayreville passed away Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011 at Care One of Holmdel. Born in Bronx, New York he has resided in Parlin for the past 56 years.
Before his retirement he was employed for 20 years as a mechanic for Harrison Bakery in Harrison. Mr. Porpora was a U. S. Marine veteran of the Korean War, was a member of Sayreville VFW Post 4699, John Basilone Detachment of the Marine Corp League and Korean War Veterans.
Surviving are his children, Michael Porpora of Parlin, Scott Porpora of Monroe, Gerard Porpora and his wife Donna of Brick, and Jeanette & Joseph Dino of Sayreville, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:30am at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin with burial to follow at New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. The following groups will hold services Wednesday at the funeral home: Sayreville VFW post 4699, 7:30pm, Marine Corp League, 7:45pm.
