Arthur Walworth was the son of James Jones Walworth and Elizabeth Chickering (Nason) Walworth. His father founded the Walworth Manufacturing Company.

He attended the Boston Latin School and Yale University. He attended the Lawrence Scientific School at Harvard in 1866, and then studied mechanical engineering at the Ecole des Ponts et Chaussees in Paris.

in 1870 he returned to Boston and worked as a mechanical engineer at the Walworth Manufacturing Company (his father's firm), specializing in heating and ventilation. In 1887, he founded Walworth Construction and Supply Company, later (after 1910) the Walworth-English-Flett Company. Mr. Walworth designed and built the original steam heating plant at Yale University.

Arthur Walworth married Mary Frances Colby on December 12, 1872.

Walworth was president of the Malleable Iron Fittings Company of Branford, Conn., from 1896 to his death.

Walworth represented the city of Newton in the Massachusetts Legislature in 1886 and 1887. He was a member and treasurer of the First Congregational Church of Newton.

Walworth died at home in Newton Center of heart disease.
