Carl “Gus” G. Ahl, 79, of Bristol, husband of Alfreda “Freda” (Eza) Ahl, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 at Ingraham Manor. Gus was born in Bristol on August 30, 1935 and was a son of the late Carl G. and Florence (Anderson) Ahl. He was a lifelong Bristol resident, retired from Pa-Ted Spring in 1999 and was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Bristol. Gus was very involved in church activities including the Church Council, property and building committee and volunteered for other positions. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life and he was a faithful and loyal Boston Red Sox, UConn Women’s Basketball and New York Giants fan. He took a lot of pleasure and pride from his vegetable gardens each year. Besides his wife, Gus is survived by a son and daughter-in-law; Douglas and Rebecca Ahl of Fitchburg, WI; two daughters and a son-in-law; Deborah Ahl and Karen and Patrick Collins all of Bristol; a brother David J. Ahl of Bristol; a sister Janet Randall of Bristol; five grandchildren; Henry and Wendy Ahl, Matthew, Meghan and Brian Collins and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11 AM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in West Cemetery.
