Walter M. Ahrens, age 82, of 709 South 27th Street, Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Wally was born on November 10, 1932 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Walter and Anne Theiss Ahrens. Wally was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. He entered the United States Army in 1952 and served overseas in Japan and Korea. Wally was honorably discharged in 1954 and returned to Manitowoc and became employed with Manitowoc Engineering for 42 years retiring in 1994. On May 4, 1957 he married Doris Zipperer at St. John's Catholic Church in Morrison, Wisconsin. Wally was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where he was involved as a communion distributor and lecturer. He was also a member of the AMVETS Post #99, Holy Name Dartball League, Meadow Links 2-Man Golf League and was the founding president of the Manitowoc Engineering Keymen's Club.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Doris; three daughters: Terri (Don) Zeddies, Cedarburg, WI; Susan Zellner, Grafton, WI; Amy (Sasha) Marcinczyk, Milton, GA; 6 grandchildren: Michael Zeddies and Emily Zeddies; Zachary Zellner; Alexis Marcinczyk, Joshua Marcinczyk, and Tyler Marcinczyk; one brother: Ronald (Cindy) Ahrens, Greendale, WI; one sister: Shirley (Mark) Becker, Manitowoc, WI; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Anne Ahrens.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier. Military rites will be accorded at the church by the AMVETS Post #99 immediately following the funeral services. Cremation will follow at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of the cremains at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, WI. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. lead by Deacon Al Boeldt. The visitation will continue on Friday, December 5, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Grand from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
