FREDERICKTOWN: S. CAROLE HOFFMAN, age 72, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Centerburg Pointe surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 15, 1942 in Mount Vernon, Ohio the daughter of Herbert and Lena (Robinson) Moore. Carole grew up in Chesterville, Ohio and was a 1960 graduate of Chester Franklin High School. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church where she served as a bible school teacher, Sunday school teacher and belonged to the Faith Lutheran Women's Group. She was also a member of the Chesterville Garden Club and the Fredericktown Band Boosters.

Carole was a seamstress and took great pride in sewing clothes for her family to use and cherish. She enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking wonderful meals for her family and friends.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 53 years, R. John Hoffman, whom she married on March 12, 1961; five daughters, Kimberly (Randy Shaw) Hoffman of Westerville, Kelly Hoffman of Fredericktown, Laura (Robert) Hoffman-Weber of Jeffersonville, Ohio, Nancy Hoffman of Summit Station, Ohio and Christine (Bryan) Hoffman-Ulmer of Sunbury; six grandchildren, Ethan and Becca Weber, Natalia and Alexandra Hoffman-Shaw, Marrisa and Teah Hoffman-Ulmer; three brothers, Robert Moore of Mount Vernon, John (Betty Jo) Moore of Stow, Ohio and Richard (Barbara) Moore of Mount Gilead. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Betty P. Moore; brothers-in-law, Charles Hollingsworth, Roger Morgan and Richard Harvey.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, James Moore; and three sisters, Betty Harvey, Jean Morgan and Karen Hollingsworth.

Friends may call on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home of Fredericktown. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 beginning at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Avenue, Mount Vernon, Ohio, 43050. Pastor Mark Wildermuth will be officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.

Memorial contributions in Carole's name may be made to the Faith Lutheran Memorial Fund, Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Knox County.
