A native of Sprague, West Virginia, he was the husband of Edna Verline Andrews Handy, who survives and the son of William Grant Handy and Nora Scott Handy, both deceased. He retired from Shoffner Industries and attended Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include two sons, Russell W. Handy and wife Judy of Burlington and Thomas G. Handy and wife Myra of Burlington; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. by Rev. Chuck Ireson with the family receiving friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
