On October 18th 1797, George Tod married Miss Sally Isaacs, a daughter of Ralph Isaacs, a well known merchant in New Haven. This union was blessed with the following known children:

Mary Isaacs Tod {m. McCurdy}(1802-1869)
David Tod (1805-1868)
Julia Ann Tod {m. Ford}(1807-1864)
Grace Ingersoll Tod {m. Perkins}(1811-1867)
George Tod, Jr. (1816-1881)
Around 1800, George and Sally Tod emigrated west settling around Youngstown, Ohio. Here George was appointed Secretary for the Territory of Ohio by Gov. Arthur St. Clair. After Ohio became a state on March 1, 1803, Tod was elected in 1804 to the Ohio Senate to represent Trumbull County. He served from 1804 to 1806. On January 1st 1807, George Tod was elected by the Ohio General Assembly for a seven year term as a judge on the Ohio Supreme Court.
Judge George Tod departed this life on April 11th 1841 at his farm "Brier Hill" and was laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery in Youngstown.
