Frank W. Jilot, 85, of Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully on Sunday morning September 21, 2014. The son of Frank F. and Mary (Renard) Jilot was born October 1, 1928, in Rosiere, WI. He spent his early years in Rosiere, where he worked at the family cheese factory. He graduated from Casco High School and Badger Business College.

Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He served in Tripoli, Libya, North Africa. On August 8, 1953, he married the former Lucy Fellner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. Following graduation, he worked in the insurance business. He and Lucy founded the Jilot Insurance Agency in Sturgeon Bay. Frank remained active in the Insurance business until his retirement in 1992, and his children continue the operation of the Agency. He and his family also operated apple and cherry orchards for many years on Cherry Road. After retirement, he filled his time with planting and nurturing trees and his woods. He treasured the outdoors and nature.

Frank was proud of his family and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Frank loved building his business and all the wonderful friends and colleagues he met along the way. He was an accomplished musician, loved Polka Music and played trumpet for years as leader of his band, The Blue Ribbon Brass. Frank enjoyed traveling around the world. He and Lucy were active members of St. Joseph Parish, Sturgeon Bay. Frank loved sports of all kinds, especially the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy, eight children, Jeanne Buckingham, Oshkosh, Ron (Tammy) Jilot, Sturgeon Bay, Rose (Dan) Dyer, Green Bay, Theresa “Terri” (Bob) Starr, Sturgeon Bay, Frank “Joe” (Sally) Jilot, Sturgeon Bay, Susan “Susie” (Joe) Schinkten, De Pere, Karen (Dan) Elick, Bloomington, IN, and Brian Jilot (special friend, Missie Minerath), Sturgeon Bay, twenty one grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, his brothers, Dick (Ann) Jilot, Green Bay, and James (Fyrn) Jilot, Sturgeon Bay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary, and siblings, Lloyd, Norman, and Mary Alice Oswell.

Family and friends may call at Forbes Funeral Home, Sturgeon Bay from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Parish prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sturgeon Bay from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the church with Father Bob Stegmann, officiating. American Legion Veteran’s service will be held following Mass.
