Born Oct. 20, 1918, in Waldron, he was the son of Albert and Carrie (Mook) Avey. He married Elizabeth Turner on Feb. 1, 1947, and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Charles H. Avey of Waldron.
Mr. Avey was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and employed at Over Head Door Company in Shelbyville for 10 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of Waldron Baptist Church in Waldron , American Legion Post 70 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenn E. George Funeral Home, 106 E. Franklin St. in St. Paul, with the Rev. Steve Holland officiating.
Burial will be in VanPelt Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veteran organizations.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
