Clarence G. “Skip” DeRocher of Yelm died October 13, 2004 at St. Peters Hospital in Olympia. He was 72. Born June 11, 1932 in Tacoma, WA to Mabel and Ernest DeRocher. Skip graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma and then spent 2 years at Washington State University. He then enlisted in the Navy for 4 years and on October 7, 1955 married Margaret Ilene Thompson. After his 4 years with the Navy, Skip attended the College of Puget Sound and then the University of Chicago, where he graduated with a Masters of Business Administration in 1960. Skip was a highly respected businessman, working for many different companies, beginning with Container Corporation of America. He was still working full time at Elliott Sales in Tacoma at the time of his death. Skip loved all sports, golf being his favorite. He loved playing board games and cards but most of all he loved being with his family. Skip’s family was the most important thing in his life! Skip brought love and laughter to everyone around him. He had a special relationship with each and every member of his family and our hearts burst with the love we all have for him. Skip is survived by his wife Ilene; four children, Lori Loveland and husband Randy of Covington, Kent DeRocher and wife Mary Lynne of Grants Pass, OR, Dane DeRocher and wife Tina of Lynnwood, and Darcy Wagner and husband Sean of Everett; five grandchildren, Jamie, Josh, Kelsey, Cassie, and Shelby; sister LaVerne Marecle and husband Ray, and brother Ernie DeRocher. A funeral will be held at 2pm on Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 176th in Puyallup. Burial will be at Fir Lane Memorial Park in Spanaway. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Brian John Barney Memorial Scholarship Fund at Sound Credit Union, P.O. Box 1595, Tacoma, WA 98401-1595. Fir Lane Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
