Funeral services for David Wayne Mathis, 59, Troup, will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Cottle Funeral Home Chapel with Rocky Craig officiating. Inurnment will be in the DFW National Cemetery, Dallas, 11:15 am, Wednesday, December 10, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
David died Thursday, December 4, 2014 in Troup. He was born June 29, 1955 in Dallas, Texas to Kenneth Mathis and Shirley Williams Mathis.
David was retired from the US Army and he was also a member of the American Legion Post 418 of Troup for 20 years.
Survivors include his father, Kenneth Mathis of Kilgore; mother, Shirley Williams Mathis of Whitehouse; son, Jacob Taylor Mathis of Fredericksburg, Maryland; brother, Rodney Mathis and wife Linn of Troup and sister, Terri Mathis of Whitehouse.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Sunday, December 7, 2014 prior to the service.
