Tahlequah, OK - Barbara Jean Thomas, age 85 of Tahlequah, OK, the daughter of Oran James and Clara Mae (Riley) Dunn, started her journey on May 20, 1929 in Oklahoma City, OK. Barbara's journey ended on December 4, 2014 in Tahlequah, OK when she went home to be with the Lord. Barbara married the love of her life, Ralph Thomas on April 20, 1949 at Park Hill Baptist Church and they spent 65 wonderful years together. The adventure that was Barbara's life included so many things; photography, fishing, hunting, traveling, and gardening, or at least telling her husband Ralph what to do in the garden, just to name a few. She was also a very accomplished seamstress, spending a lot of time quilting, and also doing genealogy where she had traced her family lineage back as far as the 1600's. Her friends and family were amazed with all of the things she accomplished, and still made the time for the true loves in her life, her family, whom she loved dearly, and her church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and played the stand-up bass during worship. Barbara lived her life to the fullest setting a very godly example for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Those that were privileged enough to be part of her journey through life are truly blessed.
Barbara joins those that went before her including her parents, one son; Dale Andrew Thomas and one sister; Marjorie Baker.
Those left to remember the adventures and carry her legacy include her husband Ralph Thomas of the home, one son William "Bill" David Thomas and wife Lois of Tahlequah, one daughter; Elizabeth Ann Clum of Broken Arrow, one brother Oran "Jim" James Dunn Jr. eight grandchildren: William David Thomas Jr., Steven Michael Thomas, Brandon Clay Thomas, Stephen Nicholas Thomas, Tony Clum, Melissa Kaiser, Ian Harrel, and Sandy Haney, 15 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, as well as a host of friends and other loved ones.
