Roy R. Abrams, 83 years of age, of Beatrice died Sunday morning, April 9, 2006 at the Parkview Care Center in Beatrice. He was born on December 8, 1922 at Wymore and attended the Wymore schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945 during World War II. He married Virgie Johnson on September 28, 1943 at Marysville, Kansas. They lived in Wymore for several years and in Missouri for two years before moving to Beatrice in 1951. He worked at the Beatrice Farmers Co-Op feed store for 20 years and then was a ward attendant at the Beatrice State Developmental Center for 13 years. He was a member of Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors: wife, Virgie Abrams of Beatrice. One daughter, Connie Corter of Beatrice. One son, Roy Abrams, Jr. and his wife April of Odell. One son-in-law, Steve Leech of Beatrice. Seven grandchildren. Nine great-grandchildren. One half-sister, Florence Crumb of Washington. One sister-in-law, Marjorie Curran of Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Tenniey Crumb Abrams and one daughter, Linda Leech.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at the Wymore Cemetery with Pastor Bill Jurgens officiating. Burial will be at the Wymore Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Relay for Life with the funeral home in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 5:00 P.M. Monday until noon on Wednesday and not at the cemetery. A guestbook for signatures and messages of condolence is available online at www.foxfuneralhome.net.
