Dr. Joseph P. Cannon, 75, former chief of staff at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn, died Thursday at the hospital. Dr. Cannon of Oak Lawn had been a physician at the hospital since its opening in 1961. He was clinical professor of surgery at the University of Illinois Medical School in Chicago from 1953 to 1970, and he had been a clinical professor at Rush Medical School. Dr. Cannon also was on the staff of the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children and was attending surgeon in the department of colon and rectal surgery at Cook County Hospital. Dr. Cannon is survived by his wife, Sharon; two daughters, Taffy Cannon Kamenjarin, and Dr. Christine Cannon Van Grensven; a son, William; and a grandchild. A memorial service was at the Zimmerman & Sandeman Memorial Chapel, 5200 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn.
