According to the Yankeetown Happenings: Talitha (Tillie) 2nd wife of Michael Alfultis died of paralysis on Monday, April 3, 1916, at 3:30pm. The funeral was held at the General Baptist church Wednesday afternoon, April 5, 1916, by Rev. William Dempsey.

(Yankeetown Happenings was a journal kept by Mrs. Nettie Moore Overlin Alfultis (wife of John Alfultis of Newburgh). She kept this wide ranging journal from 1890 to 1940 and was donated to the Newburgh Public Library. It
is now in the Indiana State Library in Indianapolis and in some cases includes family information on the families of the area that you can't find anywhere else. It includes events, births, marriages, deaths, etc. of many families from the Yankeetown, Newburgh and Evansville area.
She was born Talitha Hurt to Gillington (off her death certificate) Allen Hurt and Martha Jane Hamilton.

Note: The original spelling of the last name was Altfuldisch (German). There are currently 3 known spellings in the US for the name: Alfultis, Altfeltis, Alfortish. We believe there is a 4th spelling and we are still searching for it.
