Bob was born in Dansville on Aug. 13, 1925, a son of the late Charles E. and Alice B. Knowlton Babcock. On July 18, 1959, he married Madelyn I. Babcock, who predeceased him on Jan. 31, 2002. He was also predeceased by a daugh-ter, Michelle Babcock George, and siblings Carolyn Bondi, Emily Gates and Charles Babcock Jr.
Bob was employed for many years at the former Shay's Service in Dansville. He was a member of Daniel Goho Post #87 of The American Legion in Dansville and a volunteer for the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo. He enjoyed reading and was a Civil War historian.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Dansville United Methodist Church, 5 Chestnut Ave., with the Rev. James W. Stevens officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. The arrangements have been by Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville.
