Clyde A. Aydt, 88, of Decatur, IL passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Thursday (Dec. 4, 2014) at Hickory Point Christian Village.

Clyde was born May 18, 1926, in Dahlgren, Illinois, the son of Clemens J. and Frances H. (Nice) Aydt. Clyde married Helen L. Lamb on July 15, 1972. They met at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Decatur where they were taking ballroom dance lessons. She preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2014.

Clyde is survived by his stepdaughter, Donna Egan; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Lamb; brother, Clemens (Margaret) Aydt; sisters, Dolores Aydt and Anna Sturman; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Phillip Aydt; stepsons, Joe Lamb, Bob Lamb and Gary Lamb; daughter-in-law, Betty Lamb and grandson, Rocky.

He served proudly with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Clyde retired from A.E. Staley Manufacturing Co. after 40 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the E.A.A. (Experimental Aircraft Association).
