Edna Mae (Huston) Thompson, aged 80, of Quincy, Illinois and formerly of Warsaw, Illinois and Ferris, Illinois, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, in Blessing Hospital, Quincy. Born August 18, 1929, in Quincy, she was the daughter of Edward Leo Huston and Etta Grace (Clair) Huston. She graduated from Quincy High School in 1946 and married Walter F. Thompson on September 22, 1951, in Quincy. Her wedding attendants were her sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jean (Huston) Perry and Jim Perry.

Edna was a diligent worker, holding jobs throughout her life at Kresge, Motorola, and the Food Center in Quincy, the Telephone Company and Robnett-Jurgens in Carthage, Illinois, and Coca Cola, Jim Delashmutt, and Walmart in Keokuk. She also served as deputy clerk at Warsaw City Hall. Edna was a wonderful mother and devoted wife, lovingly caring for her husband, Walter, throughout a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Walter (in February of 2010).

Mrs. Thompson was survived by: two daughters, Krista (Thompson) Klitz (and husband Tom) and Gayle (Thompson) Taylor (and husband Mike); two sons, Walter Thompson (and wife, Sharon) and Joe Thompson (and wife, Kathy); eight grandchildren, Leah Martin (and husband, Toby), Jonathon O’Connell, Jon Kelley, Kristin Thompson, Kayla Thompson, Richard Thompson (and wife, Janelle), Jacob Thompson, and Abbie Thompson; a great-grandchild, Alex Martin; a sister, Betty Jean (Huston) Perry (and husband Jim); a brother, Edward Dale Huston (and wife Pat); and nieces and nephews, Suzanne Baker (and husband, John), Craig Miller, Cindy Bailey (and husband, Roy), Julie Boche (and husband, Henry), and John Huston.

Cremation rites were accorded. Graveside services were held at Woodland Cemetery of Quincy. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice. Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point, Illinois, was in charge of arrangements.
