Preston W. Maples was the son of Thomas Maples and Lydia Atchley of Sevier County, Tennessee. Preston died after the 1910 census was taken. Preston married twice; #1 before 1841 to Nancy (last name not known) and #2 between 1850 and 1853, to Sarah Sirena Maples, daughter of Adempsey and Rachael Catlett Maples of Sevier County. Preston had 5 children from his marriage to Nancy and 12 by his marriage to Sarah Sirena Maples. Preston and Sarah were both born in Sevier County and moved to Anderson County prior to the 1880 Federal census.
